LUBRICANT, MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND HEAD SLIDER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a lubricant that sufficiently thins film thickness for one molecule even in being polymerized, extremely reduces the film thickness of a lubricant layer in use as a magnetic recording medium lubricant layer and a head slider lubricant layer of magnetic recorder and improves reliability in a wide temperature environment without impairing a floating stability. SOLUTION: The lubricant comprises a fluorine-containing polymer having relation represented by formula Y<-1.4475X+2.815 when the natural logarithm of diffusion coefficient (unitμm2/s) at 23°C is Y and the viscosity at 20°C is X (unit Pa s) or comprises a fluorine-containing polymer of a specific structure having a number-average molecular weight of molecular chain between adjacent polar groups of≥500.
