PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid ejection apparatus which allows simultaneous initial filling for multiple cartridges. SOLUTION: The inkjet recording apparatus comprises a recording head for ejecting liquid through a nozzle; cartridges for supplying liquid to the recording head; and a switching mechanism for selectively switching liquid to be supplied to the recording head. The switching mechanism includes a body 210 having a communication passage 223; a first diaphragm and a second diaphragm 221 and 222 each being capable of opening and closing a first diaphragm chamber and a second diaphragm chamber and the communication passage 223; and an operation mechanism 224 provided in the communication passage. The operation mechanism includes a first operation end and a second operation end that operates the first and second diaphragms when the communication passage is opened to allow communication between the recording head and at least one of the first and second diaphragm chambers; and an urging member 70 which urges the first and second operation ends in a direction in which the communication passage is opened by the first and second diaphragms.
