<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure that a lancet, once fired, is not pushed back via an aperture of a needle tip, re-cocked (cock), and is fired relating to the lancet for a skin pricker. <P>SOLUTION: The lancet includes a needle and a plastics body integrally molded with a breakaway cap around the needle. The body and the cap are connected via a breakaway zone. The cap has an elongate stem aligned with the needle and the end part encasing the needle tip. The needle tip is exposed when the cap is removed. The stem has a weakened zone in the middle of both ends, whereby longitudinal compression of the cap above a predetermined level causes the stem to buckle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
