Disclosed are: a compound which is useful as an intermediate for the synthesis of an anti-HIV agent having an integrase-inhibiting activity; a process for production of the compound; and a process for production of an anti-HIV agent using the intermediate. Specifically, the compound is represented by any one of the general formulae (6), (7-1), (7-2) and (8): (6) (7-1) (7-2) (8) wherein R represents a fluorine atom or a methoxy group; R¹ represents a C₁-C₄ alkyl group; R² represents a protecting group for a hydroxyl group; and X² represents a halogen atom.
