PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a range finder capable of preventing a malfunction caused by re-feed of an electric power source. SOLUTION: This range finder includes an IRED 4 for projecting a light beam toward a range finding object a plurality of times, a PSD 5 for receiving reflected light of the light beam projected to the range finding object and for outputting a signal corresponding to a distance up to the range finding object, an AFIC 10 for signal-processing the output signal from the PSD 5, and a CPU 1 for outputting a reset signal for resetting the AFIC 10 to an initial condition, just before an electric power feed is stopped after the electric power is fed to the AFIC 10. Since the AFIC 10 is reset just before the electric power feed to the AFIC 10 is stopped, a normal range finding routine can be executed, and the malfunction is prevented in the range finder, even when an electric power voltage is re-fed before it comes to a fixed voltage or less and when power-on is reset.
