The present invention relates to compositions and methods for preventing the development of epithelial ovarian cancer by administering compounds in an amount capable of regulating TGF-beta expression in the ovarian epithelium and/or capable of optimally altering expression of other surrogate biomarkers identified by microarray technology. HRT and OCP regimens comprising such compositions and methods are disclosed.
