The seat has an airbag safety device (17) mounted on a backrest (6) formed of a non-deformable shell (15) presenting a constant curve, where the backrest is covered with a cover having a slit. The device has a case housing an air bag and a deployment generator mounted in offset manner towards back of an outlet zone of the bag. The case has a support plate with an inner surface arranged in a continuity of a surface (15a) of the shell.
