Image detector for bank notes

The detector has two detection units (13) with two charge coupled device (CCD) sensors (24) that detect image of two respective detection areas (Z1, Z2). Light emitting bodies (27, 31) irradiate light towards respective areas. The units are arranged to oppose one another across bank note (S) transportation path (12) to enable one sensor to detect an image of one area and the other sensor to detect an image of other area.
