A valve-testing system (12) for gathering information relating to the operation of a fuel injector (10) includes a fluid-transfer system (20). The fluid-transfer system may include an inlet (34), an outlet (36), a reservoir (42) having a first port (40) and a second port (48), first plumbing (38) connected between the inlet and the first port of the reservoir, and second plumbing (46) connected between the second port of the reservoir and the outlet. The valve- testing system may also include a sensor (24) configured to provide a signal relating to pressure in the first plumbing. Additionally, the valve-testing system may include controls (22) operable to cause the fuel injector to discharge fluid into the inlet of the fluid transfer-system.
