PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize electrification control to each heating element with electrification control contents up to the time to the heating element being taken into account, by a relatively simple configuration. SOLUTION: The thermal printer is equipped with a thermal head which includes a plurality of the heating elements. The thermal printer prints an image based on printing data by selectively electrifying a plurality of the heating elements on the basis of the printing data. An estimated temperature storing part 20 stores an estimated temperature of each of a plurality of the heating elements. A heating element controlling part 23 carries out electrification control of contents on the basis of the estimated temperature of the heating element stored in the estimated temperature storing part 20 and the printing data, to each of a plurality of the heating elements. An estimated temperature updating part 24 updates the estimated temperature of each of a plurality of the heating elements stored in the estimated temperature storing part 20 on the basis of the electrification control contents executed to the heating element by the heating element controlling part 23 every time printing of a predetermined printing unit is carried out.
