A lift is assigned laterally to the driver's cab of a heavy lorry, by means of which the driver and/or passenger can enter the driver's cab from the roadway and/or can return to the roadway from the driver's cab without having to negotiate relatively high steps. The lift is a raisable and lowerable platform, on which the driver can modify his position in a vertical direction while standing. A stationary vertical gripping rod provides the person standing on the platform with support and helps to guide the lift plate. The drive is partly arranged inside the gripping rod.
