PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel method for obtaining polysaccharides from a decayed wood capable of extracting various effective ingredients containing hemi-cellulose effectively from a decayed wood after cultivation of a mushroom belonging to a white decayed microorganism. SOLUTION: A decayed wood after cultivation of a mushroom belonging to a white decayed microorganism such as MAI-TAKE, HANABIRA-TAKE, HIRA-TAKE, KOFUKI-SARUNOKOSIKAKE, ERINGI, NAMEKO and SHIITAKE is allowed to contact with a high pressure hot water, whereby polysaccharides are extracted from the decayed wood. Preferably, an alkaline substance is added to the high pressure hot water. The extracted polysaccharides are hemi-cellulose mainly composed of xylose. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
