An LCD and a driving method thereof are provided to remove an afterimage by compensating for a common voltage according to a variation of a peripheral temperature. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display)(200) includes an LCD panel(110), a minimum voltage generator(210), a common voltage adjusting unit(220) and a common voltage generator(230). A common electrode is formed on an LCD cell in respective pixels of the LCD panel. The minimum voltage generator varies a minimum voltage, which is a reference voltage for the common voltage level, according to a peripheral temperature variation. The common voltage adjusting unit adjusts the common voltage level according to the minimum voltage level. The common voltage generator supplies the common voltage, whose level is adjusted by the common voltage adjusting unit, to the common electrode.
