An image capturing apparatus is provided to mount plural light-emitting devices on a circuit board having an image sensor in positions peripheral to the image sensor and enable a ring-shaped light guide member to guide light emitted from the plural light-emitting devices to the image capturing range so that miniaturization can be achieved by mounting both a light receiving system and a light emitting system on the same circuit board. An image capturing apparatus comprises the following parts: a circuit board(20) where an image sensor(30) for receiving reflected light is mounted; plural light-emitting devices(22, 24) mounted on the circuit board in peripheral positions of the image sensor; a ring-shaped light guide member(10) for guiding the light emitted from the plural light-emitting devices, and illuminating an image capturing range; and an optical unit(34) which is received within a ring of the ring-shaped light guide member and guides the reflected light from the illuminated object in the image capturing range to the image sensor.
