<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a timer handling method for preventing an RLC AM entity from experiencing deadlock or reduction in quality of service in a wireless communications system. <P>SOLUTION: A method for handling timers of the present invention includes the steps of: starting a Timer_Poll_Periodic timer for an RLC AM entity; performing a reset procedure for the RLC AM entity; and restarting the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer in response to the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer expiring prior to completion of the reset procedure. Furthermore, this method also includes the step of maintaining the value of the timer and maintaining the operation of the timer, without stopping the Timer_Poll_Periodic timer, in response to the reset procedure. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
