<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a load drive apparatus, capable of preventing a current drive element for controlling the drive current which is to be supplied from a power source to a load from being destroyed due to excessive heat generation. <P>SOLUTION: A monitor circuit 12 is designed to produce a control signal MS of a low level, and to output to a supply voltage cutting circuit 11, when the raised voltage of a charge pump circuit 51 is smaller than the voltage of the threshold of a drive transistor Tr, at operation of the charge pump circuit 51 becoming stable at the driving of a load Z. Then both output signals of respective AND circuits 11a, 11b become low level, irrespective of the clock signal CL and control signal CS. A driving control circuit 58 is designed to produce the control signal CS of low level, and to output the signal to a supply voltage cutting circuit 11 at the stopping of the driving of the load Z.
