PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extendable guy rod which contributes to the easy execution of the work of adjusting the height of the guy rod irrespective of the height of a bank or without the replacement of a guy anchor. SOLUTION: The extendable guy rod has a guy rod 4 which fixes a guy 3 for supporting the tensile force of an electric wire to the ground surface; the guy anchor 5 which is connected to the guy rod 4 and functions to fix the guy 3 to the ground at a suitable angle and embed the same in the ground; and an extendable rod 6 which is of a double structure composed of outer and inner cylinders different in inside diameter, and has one end thereof fixed to the guy rod 4 and the other end thereof fixed to the guy anchor 5, to thereby connect the guy rod 4 to the guy anchor 5. The extendable rod 6 is extendable and contractible by adjusting a fixing location of the outer cylinder with respect to the inner cylinder so that the extendable rod 6 has a predetermined length, and therefore the guy rod 4 can be fixed to the ground at a desired height with respect to the ground.
