Process and device to save and restore a set of microprocessor registers in an interruptible manner

The method involves decomposing a register save/restoration instruction for generating micro instructions to save/restore content of one of registers of a processor and executing the micro instructions. An advancement state of save/restoration of the registers is initialized. The state is updated for each generation of the micro instructions. The state is stored in a state register in case of interruption of save/restoration of the registers for executing the most prioritized task and restoring the state during the resumption of the register save/restoration. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for execution of an instruction for saving/restoring registers of a processor (2) a processor comprising a device for execution of an instruction for saving/storing registers of the processor.
