A mobile terminal and a display method therein are provided to implement both an input function and a display function as a single unit by arranging an LED matrix under a touch panel composed of navigation keys so that the LED matrix can be exposed to the external through the touch panel. A mobile terminal comprises a touch panel(120), a display part(130), and a control part. The touch panel(120) detects the location of a contact. The display part(130), formed on the bottom of the touch panel(120), comprises a plurality of LEDs. The control part generates an input signal about a direction shift, based on the detected contact location, and controls the blinking of each of the LEDs. The touch panel(120) is transparent or semitransparent. A plurality of openings are formed at the touch panel(120) in the form of a matrix. The LEDs of the display part(130), arranged in the form of a matrix, are exposed to the external through the openings.
