Disclosed is a filler for porous films which can be easily mixed with a resin while having good dispersibility in the resin. This filler enables to obtain a porous film which is useful as a light-reflecting plate for liquid crystal displays or illuminating devices or as an interelectrode separating membrane (separator) for alkaline batteries or the like. Specifically disclosed is a filler for porous films which is characterized by being composed of inorganic particles whose surfaces are treated with a surfactant (A) and a compound (B) having chelating ability for alkaline earth metals.
