PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a crack inducing joint member for water cutoff concrete for civil engineering, which is a combination of a crack inducing joint member body that is permanently embedded and has weatherability, and a water cutoff slitted member made of bentonite having semipermanent water cutoff performance imparted thereto. SOLUTION: The crack inducing joint member is formed of the joint member body 3, and the water cutoff slitted member 2 which is made of bentonite ensuring adhesiveness thereof to a concrete structure when gelatinized upon reaction with water, and having the water cutoff performance. The water cutoff slitted member 2 consists of an adjusting slitted member body 2A formed like a longitudinal square rod having a cross section that is long frontward/rearward, and a holding member 2B holding the adjusting slitted member body 2A and having one end face thereof fitted and fixed to the joint member body 3.
