In an open-end spinning machine having a spinning rotor (1) with a rotor plate (2) having an open front side (4) facing a yarn take-off nozzle (14), a convex fiber sliding surface (7), a fiber collection channel (8) and a back wall (5), the back wall contains a region (18) in which the yarn section deviates, in the direction of the plate front side, from the shortest connecting line (19) between the collection channel and the take-off nozzle. An open-end spinning machine has a spinning rotor (1) with a rotor plate (2) having an open front side (4) facing a yarn take-off nozzle (14), a convex fiber sliding surface (7) in the interior (6), a fiber collection channel (8) and a back wall (5) opposite to the open front side. A yarn (11), formed in the collection channel, is drawn off from the channel in the form of a crank-like yarn section (16) rotating around the take-off nozzle, and turned from the nozzle into a yarn take-off channel (15) coaxial with the rotor. The novel feature is that the back wall contains a region (18) in which the yarn section deviates, in the direction of the front side of the plate, from an imaginary shortest connecting line (19) between the fiber collection channel and the yarn take-off nozzle. An independent claim is included for a spinning rotor (1), with a front side, sliding surface and back wall as above, in which an imaginary plane (13), oriented perpendicular to the plate rotational axis (12) is cut at least one site (22) on the back wall by the widest region (20) of the collecting channel separated from the front side, the back wall forming a region elevated above the imaginary plane in the direction of the plate front side at these sites.
