PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of accurately estimating possibility of an engine stall, and capable of surely preventing the engine stall without raising an engine speed than required. SOLUTION: An average value and a standard deviation of a model parameter of Wiebe function model is estimated on the basis of operation conditions (step 110). A model parameter for each of cycles is extracted at random from a normal distribution regulated by the average value and the standard deviation, and thereby, indicated torque ITQ for 100 cycles is estimated based on Wiebe function model (step 120). When a minimum indicated torque ITQmin is smaller than a decision value ITQt, it is determined that there is the possibility of the engine stall (step 128), and the optimum throttle opening THAm whereby the engine stall is prevented, is retrieved.
