The invention relates to a high power electric pulse generator, comprising a charge storage means (3), a high voltage source (2) for charging said charge storage means, a first photoconductor element (4A) connected to the reference potential and to said storage means, a second photoconductor element (4B) connected to said storage means and to a useful load (6), a first light source (7) for delivering a pulse of light to said first photoconductor, a second light source (8) for delivering a pulse of light to the said second photoconductor and a means for synchronising the emission delay between the first light source and the second light source, characterised in that said first photoconductor and said second photoconductor as passive semiconductor elements with a linear regime forming photosensitive switches, said first and second photoconductors being doped silicon photoconductors.
