PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device capable of excellently damping rotational vibration, even when a vibration damping object moves. SOLUTION: This vibration damping device is composed of vibration damping mechanisms 20<SB>1</SB>and 20<SB>2</SB>arranged on both ends of the vibration damping object by sandwiching the rotational center of the rotational vibration and having a structure for driving an inertial load in the tangent direction of the periphery with the rotational center as the center by actuators 21<SB>1</SB>and 21<SB>2</SB>, accelerometers 30<SB>1</SB>and 30<SB>2</SB>respectively arranged in these vicinities and having an input shaft set in the driving direction of the inertial load, and a control part. The control part has a control calculation part 40 for generating a control signal for driving and controlling the actuators 21<SB>1</SB>and 21<SB>2</SB>by using rotational vibration acceleration provided from an output difference between the accelerometers 30<SB>1</SB>and 30<SB>2</SB>, and a feedforward calculation part 50 for feeding forward a signal to the control signal by generating the signal for driving and controlling the actuators 21<SB>1</SB>and 21<SB>2</SB>so that the inertial load follows the movement of the vibration damping object, by using movement acceleration of the vibration damping object provided by output of the accelerometers 30<SB>1</SB>and 30<SB>2</SB>.
