PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep the output of an optical semiconductor module constant regardless of the type of optical fiber to be inserted. SOLUTION: The optical semiconductor module 1 includes a semiconductor laser 10 for radiating a laser beam, a lens 20 for condensing the laser beam, and an optical connector 30 for outputting the condensed laser beam to a transmission line 201. The optical connector 30 has a fiber ferrule 32 that includes an optical fiber 34 having an incident plane IP for the laser beam to enter and an optical attenuating section 50 that is installed in a manner covering the incident plane IP. The optical attenuating section 50 for example is polarization glass whose transmissivity of the laser beam in the optical attenuating section 50 varies by the rotation of the optical attenuating section 50 on a plane orthogonal to the optical axis. The semiconductor laser 10, the lens 20 and the optical connector 30 are aligned so that the laser beam spot diameter in the incident plane IP becomes smaller than the core diameter of the optical fiber 34.
