A door lock system interlocking with a door handle and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the unnecessary consumption of power by generating operating pulse if the door handle is turned and supplying operating power to an RF(Radio Frequency) card reader for the predetermined time. A door lock system interlocking with a door handle(20) is composed of an RF card(10) recoded with data necessary for opening a door; a sensor unit(110) detecting the approaching state of a user and generating a sensing signal; an operating pulse generating unit(120) generating operating pulse corresponding to the sensing signal and supplying the operating power to an RF card reader unit(130) reading data of the RF card; the RF card reader unit receiving and reading data of the RF card in supplying operating power by the operating pulse and generating a door opening signal by judging whether the data corresponding to the opening of the door exists and corresponds to the read data or not; and a door opening and closing unit(140) opening the door if the door opening signal is generated.
