The assembly has a measuring unit (20) carried by a metallic wheel (12) for measuring topological parameters of an inner surface (18) of a contact area of a tire (14). The unit (20) has a stereovision type vision and lighting unit (24) with a light source (32) for lighting a standardized surface pattern (26) which is connected to the surface for being subjected to deformation on the surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring dynamic topological parameters of an inner surface of a contact area of a tire.
