PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform control that is less affected by a temperature rise in the adjustment of the quantity of light in a plurality of light sources. SOLUTION: A plurality of light sources (LEDs) 301a, b, c, and 302a, b, c for generating light applied to an object are provided at the first and second sides of an image sensor (CIS). Light from the object is converted to charge information by CCDs. When adjusting the quantity of light in each LED in light source units, the quantity of light is not adjusted continuously for one side for the plurality of light sources at the first and second sides.
