PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide means to distribute image data acquired at a data source to different processing instances such that it is possible to reduce the volume of data which is to be transmitted and to achieve optimum adjustment to respective workflows for processing the image data. SOLUTION: A method, a device and a product are disclosed, where a plurality of nodes K are provided for processing medical image data B. After the determination of a specific workflow for processing the image data B, relevant distributed nodes K are determined which have the functionality to execute the determined workflow. The image data B is then split into image data subsets on the basis of the workflow, and transferred in dedicated fashion to the relevant nodes K for the purpose of processing.
