PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a retransmission buffer capacity, and to reduce the processing time of a buffer. SOLUTION: A communication system requests the retransmission of frames that have not been received normally at a reception side to a transmission side, and comprises a retransmission buffer 24 for storing only the frame number of a frame that has not bee received normally, and a holding means 25 for holding the frame number of a frame to be received next. The frame retransmission control method comprises a step for comparing the frame number of a frame that has been received normally with that of the holding means, and updating the content of the holding means with a value obtained by adding a prescribed number to the normally received frame number, when the frame numbers are equal or the frame number of the normally received frame is larger; and a step for searching a retransmission buffer with the normally received frame number for deleting the agreed frame number from the retransmission buffer, when the frame number of the normally received frame is smaller.
