PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stapler which can change the number of staples to be driven if necessary. SOLUTION: The stapler 1 comprises a first driver 31 and a second driver 32 having different thicknesses respectively. The second driver 32 is withdrawn to a base portion side, and the driving portion 32a of the second driver is brought into close contact with the driving portion 31a of the first driver so as to overlap with each other. Then, the overlapped driving portions are arranged at a staple driving position capable of driving the staples stored in a magazine. In this case, a slide bar 35 provided in a handle 3 withdraws following the movement of the driving portion 31a of the first driver. As a result, when the relative angle between the handle 3 and the magazine 2 is reduced, the bar side projection 36 formed on the slide bar 35 engages with the plate side projection 26 formed on a slide plate 25 closing a part of a driving port of the staples in the magazine 2, and the slide plate 25 is withdrawn, and the opening width of the driving port 22 is widened.
