PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environmental measuring device and an environmental measurement method for measuring an environment by utilizing a change in the appearance of a biodegradable plastic material supported in a location where the environment is measured. SOLUTION: The environmental measuring device comprises: the biodegradable plastic material 14 machined to a reference shape in advance; a support 13 for fixing the biodegradable plastic material 14 to the location where the environment is measured in a state for recognizing the entire or partial appearance change visually; and a label 15 for displaying at least the date when the biodegradable plastic material 14 starts to be supported. The biodegradable plastic allows deterioration to advance at speed according to the environment. Since the biodegradable plastic material 14 has been machined to a reference shape, the deterioration state is in a fixed form.
