<p>The method involves defining a patch for modification of a program, which is executed in a non-volatile memory such as read only memory e.g. electrically erasable read only memory, and storing the patch in a region of the non-volatile memory. The relevant sections of the patch in the non-volatile memory are temporarily stored in a cache for implementing the patch, while parallely implementing an access to the non-volatile memory. The patch can be downloaded from an external or internal entity. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a mobile data carrier, which supports the implementation of patches and comprises a device for memory management of the mobile data carrier (2) a system for modification of a program stored in a read only memory of a mobile data carrier by the implementation of a patch (3) a computer program product, which is loadable directly in a memory of a mobile data carrier, with program code units to execute a method of memory management of the mobile data carrier, when the program is executed in the data carrier.</p> |
