<p>A system for tracking items includes a turntable to receive a pallet containing articleshaving RFID devices, a transceiver disposed adjacent to the turntable to transmitand receive a signal from the RFID devices, and a wrap dispenser to wrap the articleswith wrap as the turntable rotates. A method is provided including loading articleshaving RFID devices thereon on a pallet, loading the pallet on a turntable, attachingan end of a wrap to at least one of the articles, rotating the turntable to causethe wrap to encircle the articles until all of the articles are constrained inposition by the wrap, transmitting a signal to the RFID devices to cause the eachRFID device to emit a signal back to the transceiver, and reading the signals fromthe RFID devices to obtain information contained in the signals.</p> |
