The invention relates to the branch of production of hot-rolled sheet and can be used for cooling of sheets and strips on the thick-sheet and strip mills. A collector for cooling the sheet metal contains a filler tank for discharge of cooler by laminar jets through the straight branch pipes, which diameter is selected depending on the parameters ofcollector. Branch pipes from the entry side of cooler are located in two rows, and from the side of discharge ends - in one continuous row with the ratio of the distance between the branch pipes to the inside diameter of branch pipe not greater than 1.3, and the inside diameter of branch pipe is selected depending on the maximum consumption of cooler and height of the collector installation above the surface of cooled sheet in accordance with the dependence: where: - inside diameter of branch pipe, mm; - consumption of the cooler through the branch pipe, l/min; H - height of the installation of collector above the surface of sheet, m. In the basis of invention is posed the problem of ensuring intensive and uniform on the width cooling of sheet metal with laminar jets, and, on this basis to increase the efficiency of use of the cooler and quality of finished products.
