<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide semiconductor nanoparticles usable for e.g. treating cancer, because of being higher in the rate of active oxygen generation than ever. <P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor nanoparticles have an emission quantum efficiency of 0.1-50%, preferably 0.1-20%, more preferably 0.1-5%, which are realized owing to such a phenomenon that part of the shells of the semiconductor nanoparticles with core/shell structure is deleted or part of the cores is amorphous, etc. When the emission quantum efficiency falls within these predetermined ranges, the rate of active oxygen generation of the semiconductor nanoparticles can be greater than 1 mL/min/g when irradiated with ultraviolet rays, thus being effective for exterminating cancer cells. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
