A rotary cutter particularly intended for cutting gear teeth has one or more blades 9 adapted to be reciprocated radially during rotation of the cutter so that over a portion of its path 11 to 12 the blade edge 10 describes a straight line. Each blade holder 5 is mounted in a guide member 7 which is itself rotatably mounted on pin 8, the blade holder 5 being reciprocated radially during rotation of the cutter by a crank-pin 4 driven by a gear 2 in mesh with a stationary internal gear 3. Cutter body members 1, 1a are relatively angularly adjustable when stationary to adjust the rake angle of the cutter and the location of the cutting plane. Internal gear 3 may also be adjusted relatively to the cutter body member 1 when at rest to adjust the location of the cutting plane. V pulley 13 attached to body member 1 provides for drive to the cutter. |
