PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous dispersion of fluoropolymer excellent in mechanical stability while suppressing increase of viscosity and foamability. SOLUTION: The invention relates to the aqueous dispersion of fluoropolymer comprising particles of the fluoropolymer dispersed in an aqueous medium in the presence of a specific nonionic surfactant, wherein a hydrocarbon group of a compound composing the specific nonionic surfactant is only a hydrocarbon group comprising continuously adjacent 1-5 carbon atoms, and the distribution of each content (mass%) of units in each compound constituting the specific nonionic surfactant such as -C<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>O- and/or -OC<SB>2</SB>H<SB>4</SB>- is multimodal.
