PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat, with a backrest that is reclinable backward, in which the backrest is reclinable while maintaining proper elasticity, and the backrest can be supported by a small number of parts. SOLUTION: A backrest support mechanism 10 is composed of a cylindrical case 12 that is closed at one end, a rod-shaped oscillating metal fitting 14 formed roughly in an L-letter shape, of which one side is inserted into the case 12, an elastic member 16 inserted into the case 12 with one side of the oscillating metal fitting 14, and a bolt 18 to fix the oscillating metal fitting 14 to be rotatable around the right-to-left axis of the seat 1 to the case 12. The case 12 is fixed to a support mechanism mounting part 46a where a leg part 4 is provided.
