A surface light source device and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) having the same are provided to constantly maintain the degree of exhaust in a discharge space and distribution of a discharge gas by quickly exhausting a gas remaining inside the discharge space. A light source body(100) generates light through an internal space divided into a plurality of discharge spaces. The light source body includes a first connecting passage(126) that allows a first discharge space to communicate with a discharge space adjacent thereto and a plurality of second passages(128) that allow a second discharge space to communicate with other discharge space adjacent thereto. The light source body includes a first substrate having a shape of a flat panel and a second substrate that is attached to the first substrate to form the internal space. The second substrate includes a light emitting portion that is spaced from the first substrate in order to form the internal space and a space dividing portion(124) that contacts the first substrate in order to divide the internal space into the plurality of discharge spaces.
