PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connecting and fixing method of an exhaust system pipe with respect to a connection body, capable of securely performing connection and fixation with connection parts closely contacted with each other, without requiring a member. SOLUTION: Both open end parts of an outer pipe 2 are axially inserted along inner peripheral faces 41 for guiding outer pipe insertion of both jigs 4 for diameter contraction, and pressed in opening end outer peripheral face sides of large diameter cylindrical parts 32 of cap bodies 3, so as to sequentially reduce the diameters of open edge parts of the outer pipe 2 toward inside of annular grooves 33 by annular tapered face 43 portions for diameter contraction. By receiving the open end parts of the outer pipe 2 of which diameters are contracted by the open edge parts of the annular grooves 33, the open edge parts of the outer pipe 2 are recessed inwardly toward inside of the annular grooves 32 and are closely contacted along the inner peripheral faces of the annular grooves 33, and at the same time, both pipe end parts of an exhaust pipe 1 are inserted and fitted along inside of small diameter cylindrical parts 31 of the cap bodies 3.
