The access control system has a code generator carried along a user side. A vehicle side transmitter (1) relating to a vehicle longitudinal axis (FA) running through the vehicle center produces an asymmetric signal power distribution, where the signal power is different on the driver and a co-driver side in same distance to the driver longitudinal axis. Two signals are transmitted with different transmitting power after one another from the vehicle side transmitter.
