PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter of excellent environmental resistance capable of inhibiting the heat generation of a bearing 15 supporting an inner tube 16 of a clutch 4. SOLUTION: A center case 11 includes a bearing part 11a supporting the inner tube 16 of the clutch 4 via the bearing 15, and a projection 11b formed near the bearing part 11a. The projection 11b projects in an axial direction to a housing side and a radial direction outside from the bearing part 11a in a cylinder shape. The housing includes a cylindrical wall 8b having the center case 11 combined with the wall in an axial direction. A through hole 8c is formed at one section of the cylindrical wall 8b, and a drain member 22 is attached to the through hole 8c. By this constitution, heat is transmitted to the projection 11b from the bearing part 11a of the center case 11 and heat radiated from the projection 11b is radiated to the outside through a drain hole 22b of the drain member 22 when the bearing 15 generates heat, damage to the bearing caused by the heat generation can be inhibited.
