PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exchange and a presence information notice method thereof capable of improving the convenience of a user even if no presence compatible terminal exists but only an extension telephone set is available by using the extension telephone set capable of transmitting the state of the user as presence information. SOLUTION: The exchange including a call control section 14 for connecting an external line and an extension or between extensions to form a speech path to the extension telephone set, includes a presence control section 15 that receives a disclosure request for requesting the extension telephone set 20 to transmit a state notice for denoting a change in the state of the extension telephone set 20 from a PC telephone set 30 serving as a presence compatible terminal connected to a LAN and transmits the state notice associated with the extension telephone set 20 to the PC telephone set 30 as a presence notice via a SIP protocol processing section 13 when receiving the notice denoting the detection of the state change by the extension telephone set 30 through its hook-off from the call control section 15.
