<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable displacement turbocharger capable of reducing loss of exhaust gas energy due to decline in exhaust gas pressure when a regulating valve is half-opened. <P>SOLUTION: A secondary passage 35 of a scroll passage 27 has a first inner wall face 45 and a second inner wall face 46 opposing to each other. A valve element 42 of the regulating valve 41 has a support part 47 provided at the downstream end and contacted with the first inner wall face 45 all the time; an action part 49 provided in the exhaust gas upstream side from the support part 47 and contacted/separated with/from the second inner wall face 46 along with the rotation of the valve element 42 around the support part 47 to close/open the secondary passage 35; and a guide part 51 for guiding exhaust gas from the upstream side to a space between the second inner wall face 46 and the action part 49 when the valve element 42 is opened at the intermediate opening. A portion of the valve element 42 facing the secondary passage 35 between the action part 49 and the support part 47 is formed so as to gradually approach to the first inner wall face 45 toward the downstream side, when the valve element 42 is half-opened. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
