<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the excessive acquisition of resources and deterioration in image quality in the case of transmitting contents with different bit rates by using a wired or wireless LAN. <P>SOLUTION: When this content transmitter transmits and receives contents with different bit rates to and from the content receiver via a network by using the wired or wireless LAN, the size of a transmission window and the size of transmission data of the content transmitter and the size of a reception window and the size of received data of the contents receiver are revised.
