Disclosed is a device (1) for sterilizing water, which is to be used in a water conduit, especially in a shower hose. Said device (1) comprises a base which is made at least in part of silver, a silver alloy, or another oligodynamically active metal or is coated at least in part with an oligodynamically active metal. The inventive device (1) is characterized in that the base is ductile. The disclosed device can be used in many shower hoses having different lengths and can effectively sterilize in the entire shower hose.
