A network storage device and an initializing method thereof are provided to enable a plurality of users to share the network storage device through the network and perform initialization to enable the network storage device to be automatically connected to the network. A network adaptor(320) connects a communication channel for enabling a device included in the local network connecting to the storage device and the remote network expanded from the local network to input/output data to a data storage disk(385). A processor(305) receives a disk I/O(Input/Output) command through the network adaptor, inputs/outputs the data to the data storage disk through a disk controller(355), and transmits a disk I/O result to the device through the network adaptor. A bus(315) connects the disk controller, a memory(310), the network adaptor, and the processor. A program storage disk(390) stores a program for receiving the disk I/O command, inputting/outputting the data to the data storage disk, and transmitting the disk I/O result to the device. The program is automatically executed when the network storage device is booted.
