PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve resolution of a volume 3D display based on a plurality of projectors. SOLUTION: Pixels of a space light modulator (SLM) are divided into a plurality of groups and a sub-panel and each group are defined. A frame of an image data is sequentially written to each sub-panel in a fixed order from it. An image frame written in the sub-panel is defined as "a sub-frame" when displayed in the sub-panel, and one sub-frame of one sub-panel is displayed at one time and the remaining sub-panels are kept blank (black). If the SLM does not include a memory buffer, and if the image is displayed when it is written, all data of the SLM must be deleted after the sub-panel is displayed, and before the next sub-panel is written. If the SLM includes the memory buffer and another instruction for displaying data of the memory buffer, the next sub-panel is written and the data of the preceding and following sub-panels provided for display may be deleted.
